Homemade Hot Chocolate

This hot chocolate makes a perfect snack for a chilly day. It's filled with healthy fat, free of refined sugars and dairy and the optional addition of collagen peptides add some protein. The cacao powder is a source of magnesium, iron and can improve mood!

Homemade Hot Chocolate

Ingredients:

  1. 1/3 cup raw organic cacao powder
  2. 2 tbsp coconut oil
  3. 1/4 cup maple syrup (or less depending on how sweet you like it!)
  4. 2 scoops collagen peptides
  5. 1 tsp. cinnamon
  6. pinch sea salt
  7. 1 cup water
  8. 2 cups almond milk or milk of choice

Instructions:

  1. Add water and almond milk to a pot on stove at low heat.
  2. Whisk in all ingredients while slowly heating.
  3. Once warm enough for serving I add to a blender and blend for 30-60 seconds. Another option is to simply whisk on stove stop until frothy but I find the blender makes for a creamier hot chocolate.
  4. Enjoy

Note: This is a rich hot chocolate. Only add 1/4 cup of raw cacao powder for a less chocolately version. You can also use cocoa powder but I prefer the raw cacao powder.
